Angelica is a biennial with perfect flowers (having both male and female parts) and is self fertile. The flowers are insect pollinated and attract a wide variety of insects. It produces seed in abundance, which tends to be mostly wasted because it doesn't even remain viable for a year. Rather than harvesting the seed it is usually a better idea to just let is self-sow.

If you want to collect the seed do it when the seeds turns brown, by cutting the entire seed head and putting it into a paper bag to dry. If the seeds are not going to be planted right away (the best idea) they should be kept in the freezer until needed.
