Stink Bug

Stink Bug

Pentatomidae family

These shield shaped bugs may be found throughout North America and get their name because of their habit of emitting a foul smell when attacked. Both larvae and adults suck juices from plants and may attack beans, Brassicas, corn, peas, Squash family and tomatoes. Interestingly not all stink bugs are plant pests, some are predators and actually help in the garden.

Adults may overwinter in weeds so keeping the garden clean may help. Also encourage predatory insects.
