Tarnished Plant Bug

Tarnished Plant Bug

Lygus lineolaris

This small (¼”) bug sucks the juice from plants, causing distortion, wilting and dieback. It attacks a very wide range of plants (over half of common crops may be attacked), but is most problematic on celery, eggplant, lettuce, pepper, strawberry and tomato.

Tarnished Plant bug can be controlled with row covers and attracting native predators. If it becomes a big problem try rotenone.
