Tatsoi is a Chinese non-heading mustard, a great green to add to salad or stir-fry. Dark, round, spoon-shaped leaves grow on broad, tender, crisp white stalks, with a large celery-like base. They have a tangy, mild mustard flavor.Brassicaceae Brassica navinosa
Asian Mustards come in a variety of leafy and head-like plants. They may vary in color from deep dark green to dark red to a combination of greenish purple. The stems are often white.

The ideal spot for Mustards depends on the weather. If it's cool they should be planted on a sunny site. If it's warm then some shade is a good idea.
Mustards are in and out of the ground quickly, so are often used for intercropping between slower growing crops, rather than being given their own area of bed.

If you want tasty, mild flavored mustard greens (and you do) you must keep the soil moist at all times. If the soil is too dry the plants will develop a bitter and pungent flavor.

Choose a container that is at least 12" deep and 14" wide. Make sure that your container has at least one drainage hole and fill with a mixture of potting soil and compost. Place your container in full sun as long as the temperature allows for this. In warmer climates, Tatsoi will need shade. Make sure the soil stays moist by watering regularly.
