Lemon Verbena : Lemon Verbena
Lemony scented leaves make great tea, baked goods, jelly, and more
Lemon Verbena has the most true lemon scent of all the lemony herbs. The leaves are commonly used to make a delicious tea or for flavoring drinks. This leggy, tender perennial is easy to squeeze into gardens without a lot of extra space, or it can be grown larger and made into a hedge. Its a deciduous plant that loses its leaves when the days get shorter but then grows back the following spring.

You can begin harvesting leaves as needed once the plant has reached at least 8" tall but never take more than 1/3 of the plant.
When and How
Snip branch tips frequently after the plant has reached at least 8" tall, but never take more than 1/3 of the plant. You can also harvest leaves individually, depending on how much you need for your tea or meal.
If you are growing as an annual harvest entire plant a couple weeks before the first frost or if you'd like to keep growing it transplant it to a pot and take it inside for the winter.
