Evergreen perennial with a peppery thyme flavor, great with snap peas
Evergreen perennial native to the Mediterranean, Europe, and Russia. The dark, green and shining leaves are an esteemed European medicinal rich in antiseptic thymol. Bright green-leaved aromatic shrubs, wholesome and carminative (relieving flatulence). This makes good spice. Not quite as good, however, as Summer Savory. The two are close cousins, actually. Winter has it over summer because it is perennial and therefore needn't be planted yearly. Summer has it over winter because it is a bit yummier and the leaves are softer and nicer to work with (and eat).Lamiaceae Satureja montana
