They are fully ripe about a week after they turn bright-red with an orange-tinged.

The fruit won't usually ripen below 55˚ F, or above 85˚ F.

Sun isn't necessary for ripening, only warmth. Consequently fruits will ripen even in the dense shade in the middle of a plant.
