We import seed for these true mini beets directly from Holland where baby beets are a kitchen staple. The thin, round leaves of chives are commonly used in soups and sauces. The plant grows in clumps up to 12" high and produces lavender flowers in midsummer. Chives are useful as a companion plant throughout the garden to help reduce the insect population.

Sweet and mellow dill flavor, holds longer than other varieties

Dukat is an especially sweet and mellow dill bred in Denmark for traditional Scandinavian dishes. The fine cut, blue green leaves hold longer than other varieties. Use Dukat's aromatic fresh leaf lavishly, sprinkled on steamed summer vegetables, sliced in tomatoes and cucumbers, in mixed green salads and dressings, in sauces, and most deliciously, over grilled or poached salmon and other fish. Let some plants bloom to give nectar to butterflies and then harvest the pungent seed heads to season pickles.

This is the most common garlic on the market, and like the Early White, is another great garlic for beginners. Stronger flavor than Early White, and quite heat tolerant, this garlic is one of the best keepers, storing for as long as 8 months! Also an excellent braider. Approximately 12 to 16 cloves per bulb.

Lemon Balm's botanical name "Melissa" is Greek for "honey bee". The leaves can be used for flavoring teas, ice cream, fruit or in pesto and also have medicinal qualities. Lemon Balm is often included in sachets and potpourris.

This leaf lettuce has light green, long, wavy, deeply notched leaves with a large, fast growing rosette. It is heat resistant; it will not get bitter in hot weather and is slow to bolt. It was an "All American Selections" winner in 1952.
